Alessia has been begging to play soccer for a few years.  We told her when she turned 8 she could play.  Well, we caved and for her 7th birthday we signed her up for soccer.  She was so excited.  She played on a team called the Cool Kickers.  There were 8 girls on her team.  There was one girl on the team she knew from school.  All the others went to different schools.  Luckily Alessia knows how to socialize and make friends.

Alessia did pretty well for her first season of soccer.  She even scored a bunch of goals.  She really loved playing.  As a parent I loved watching her. I would get annoyed though when she wouldn’t pay attention or she would get tired and just stand there on the field.

We debated whether we should sign her up for another season.  It is a lot of time committed to practices and games. I decided we would try it for one more season with another team and coaches and see how she does.  The new season doesn’t start until September but her team is practicing throughout the summer.  She will have her first practice with them this week.  I hope she still loves it and learns some better skills.  I also hope she has fun and enjoys being on a new team and meeting some new players.
